Seven Secrets To A More Beautiful And Fairer Skin

11 Jan

If you want a rosy, soft, and young-looking skin, you have to work hard for it. You need to pay attention to what you eat, and what you put on your face to help ensure that your skin becomes as beautiful and soft as that of a baby.

People with lots of money to spend can always go under the knife and have a facelift, a series of microdermabrasion sessions, some Botox injections and other cosmetic procedures that will help prevent skin aging and maintain a youthful glow.

However, for those who only have a limited budget, there are other ways to achieve that healthy-looking and blemish-free skin. All you have to do is read and follow the seven secrets to maintaining a beautiful and young-looking skin enumerated below:

Drink Up And Be Merry

One of the signs of dehydration is dry and flaky skin. Thus, if you do not want to have dry, scaly and wrinkly skin, you have to ensure that you are properly hydrated. It is advisable to drink at least eight glasses of water everyday. If it is hot or you sweat a lot, you need to increase your water intake.

We all know that toxins are flushed out from our body through sweat and urine. Without proper hydration, accumulated waste products and toxins will find a way out of your body through your skin. Many skin problems, including acne and infections, are caused by your body’s inability to get rid of toxins and waste products properly.

Zap Away Your Stress

If you are experiencing chronic stress, you won’t be able to sleep well, you will crave for the wrong kinds of food, and you won’t find time to take care of yourself. As a result, you will have poor health, dark circles around your eyes, sluggish bodily functions, and dry and older-looking skin. If you do not want to look like 30 years older than your real age, you better find ways to manage and beat stress.

Relaxation, meditation, regular exercise, Pilates, aromatherapy, soothing music, and even multivitamins can all help soothe your mind and body. However, the best way to beat stress is to have a positive mental attitude and all the support you can get from your family and loved ones.

Beauty Rest Is Best

If you want to remain ageless and beautiful, you need to have plenty of rest and sleep. When we sleep, our brain and other organs repair and restore damaged cells. If you do not sleep at least seven to eight hours a day, you are depriving your brain and body the much needed time to do their built-in restoration and rejuvenation functions.

Be Gentle On Your Skin

Many people think that by scrubbing their face roughly, they are helping remove blemishes, age spots and discoloration. Actually, intense scrubbing and scouring will not help banish dead skin cells nor bring out a beautiful and more youthful skin. Your face is very sensitive and should be dealt with as gently as possible. Forceful brushing, scrubbing and polishing of your skin will do more harm than good.

Don’t Bask In The Sun

Liver spots, freckles, wrinkles and other blemishes and skin discolorations are brought about by excessive exposure to the sun, also called photo damage. With the thinning ozone layer, your skin is exposed to the damaging ultraviolet rays from the Sun. If you need to go out in the morning, you need a good pair of sunglasses and sunscreen with high SPF.

Go Green, Red And Orange

Colorful fruits and vegetables contain antioxidants that help fight sun damage and other harmful elements. You will wake up to a rosier, softer and youthful glowing skin just by increasing your intake of leafy greens, orange produce and red fruits to about five to seven times for a few weeks.

Don’t Forget To Moisturize

You need natural skincare products that will help moisturize your skin. You also need products that will help fight the symptoms of skin aging. One product that can help make your skin clearer, brighter, and fairer is Lumnaderm.

Detoxification and your skin

Learn to help your body glow from the inside out. Nourish it with foods that are pure and natural. Remove harmful substances from your diet and you will notice a difference in the way you look and feel.
What is detoxification?
Detoxification is the process of removing toxins or poisons. We all know that toxins are harmful and cause damage, potentially even death if taken in certain levels. Living cells, whether in plants or in the body, are constantly in the process of bringing nutrients and fresh substrates in while eliminating by-products and waste that is not useful to the organism. Therefore, detoxification is a natural, ongoing process in our bodies.
Keeping your body healthy requires maintaining all of its systems in good working order. Minimizing the amount of toxins you take into your system is one way that we can detoxify our bodies. Benefits of detoxification may include increased energy and improved health, better breath, reduced allergies, and potentially fewer aches and pains.
Wastes leave the body in the form of gases, solids, and liquids. Carbon dioxide is the gas that we exhale. We excrete other waste from the body after it accumulates in the bladder and in the bowels.
Other organs that play a major role in detoxification include the:
- skin
- liver
- kidneys
- lungs
Blood also plays a critical role in the detoxification process. It carries dissolved gases like carbon dioxide to the lungs, and then it is traded for oxygen through respiration. Both the liver and kidneys help to detoxify the blood by removing wastes and sending them to the urine. In the form of stool, unused solids are carried away.
Benefits for your skin via detoxification
Your skin is a barrier but it is not impermeable. Just as products that you use on your skin are able to enter your body through this physical barrier, toxins are also able to leave your body through the skin. Free radicals and UV light in the environment also damage the skin which over time cause it to show signs of premature aging.
How can detoxification help your skin? By minimizing the number of chemicals in your body, you help you body to function more efficiently. Eating well is one way to maintain healthy skin with a smooth texture, elasticity, and a proper level of moisturization. Skin complexions troubled by acne and imperfections can also benefit from the inside out with detoxification methods. For example, vitamin A reduces the amount of sebum produced by the skin cells and therefore pores are less likely to become blocked.
Ways to detoxify your body
Some of the best ways to detoxify include:
- eating a balanced diet
- juicing organic fruits and vegetables
- exercising regularly
- exfoliation
- using organic products for personal hygiene
Before trying any detox method always be sure to check with your doctor. People with serious medical conditions should also consult a doctor as these methods are not recommended. Pregnant women should not try these methods.
Eating a balanced diet
Nutrients in foods contain many elements that can help your body and especially your skin to remain in good condition. When your body is ‘happy’ and ‘efficient’, through detoxification, it will show on the outside.
Your skin needs:
- essential fatty acids (omega-3 and omega-6) found in oily fish and flax seeds
- antioxidants vitamins C, E, and beta-carotene to retaliate against the damaging effects of UV light and free-radicals
- minerals zinc and selenium to build tissues and heal wounds. Find these minerals in foods like seafood, nuts, grains, and vegetables
- vitamin B6 to balance hormone levels, particularly for women that have pre-menstrual break-outs
- vitamin A to help reduce sebum levels on the skin
- potassium to help maintain elasticity, water to maintain hydration and flush toxins from the body
- water to maintain hydration and flush toxins from the body
Juicing organic fruits and vegetables
Have you ever tried freshly squeezed juice? It is delicious and nutritious. You get a truckload of vitamins, enzymes, and minerals. The enzymes contained in vegetables and fruits help to digest your food so try drinking these natural cocktails with meals.
One important thing to remember is that you should always start with organic fruits or vegetables. Because most fruits and vegetables are sprayed with pesticides, using non-organic products means that you will be ingesting harmful pesticides too. Keep these toxic chemicals away from your cells in order to maintain their proper functioning.
Exercising regularly
Oxygen is vital to life. Incorporating exercise into your lifestyle brings this element into your body and skin. Studies at the University of Wisconsin have shown that oxygen reduces the effects of free radical damage and premature aging.
Sweating encourages the release of toxins from the skin. Working up a good sweat during your exercise program will help in the detoxification process. You could also try saunas and steambaths to encourage the excretion of toxins.
If you are not currently exercising choose something that you enjoy doing. Walking is a great way to increase your heart rate and pump oxygen through your lungs. Other ideas include yoga, swimming, cycling, and running. Whatever you do, choose an activity that you will be motivated to do on a regular basis.
Exfoliation
Shedding skin cells is a continual process. Dead skin cells sit on the uppermost level of the epidermis and they make the skin look dull and less healthy. Our clothes play a big part in helping to remove cells on a daily basis. By sloughing off dead skin cells from time to time, you can stimulate the skin renewal process. Try any of the following methods once a week to naturally exfoliate your skin:
- briskly towel off after a shower
- use an organic scrub during your shower
- use a washcloth during your shower
- use a loofah (Important: keep it dry when it’s not in use to minimize bacterial count)
Using organic products for personal hygiene
Decreasing the number of synthetic chemicals entering your body through your food and personal products is yet another way to help detoxify. Modern research at the Herb Research Foundation found that the skin absorbs up to 60% of the chemicals in products that it comes into contact with directly into the bloodstream. This means that chemicals, some of which are known carcinogens, are entering your body and potentially causing unnecessary harm.
The next time you need to stock up on personal hygiene products, look for alternatives to the chemically items offered in most stores. Using organic products decreases the number of preservatives and chemical additives your skin comes into contact with and therefore, that may enter your body.

What To Use For Anti Aging Treatments

21 Dec

br
Damage to the skin happens at the cellular and microscopic level. Every person will age at a different rate depending on genetics, exposure to UV rays, stress, exposure to pollutants, and poor nutrition. Aging is evitable so it is important to know what to use for anti aging treatments.

To keep skin healthy and reduce the signs of aging ensure that the diet is nutritious with plenty of fruits and vegetables, and drink at least 8 glasses of water each day. The diet should also be high in antioxidants either through food or through supplements. Reducing fat and sugar intake is also helpful. Smoking ages the skin quickly and so does the sun so avoid both. As well as nutritious help there are many treatments to consider using. Some are non invasive while others require minimal surgery.

When it comes to face lifts, a thread lift is considered cutting edge technique because it is very innovative. There are actually no cuts. Instead tiny strings are inserted under the skin and then used like pulleys to create an upward force by attaching them to the facial tissue. The procedure takes about an hour and it is the perfect option for the person that is not quite ready for a full facelift.

Faces sink and sag with age and one way to plump them back up and give them a more youthful appearance is with a technique called fat transfer which is a very innovative procedure. With this procedure fat is taken from somewhere else on the body and injected into the face plumping the skin back up again.

Laser treatments are another option. A dermatologist will help you choose the correct laser treatment for your skin. A complete makeover can leave the patient looking 10 years younger with no invasive surgery. Fraxel laser treatments will resurface the skin, improving the tone and texture while removing age spots, wrinkles, and acne scars.

Botox, Juvdferm, and Restylane are all filler treatments which will reduce moderate to severe wrinkles. Any one of the three filler treatments is perfect for minor wrinkles. Fine lines, feather wrinkles, and even thinner lips are all part of aging and Hylaform is a technique that injects a mix of hylaronic acid and hylaform into the skin to plump it up. Its new and comes with FDA approval.

Anti Aging treatments do not have to be invasive. There are some excellent creams on the market. Although these creams are no magic bullet and they certainly are not equivalent to a face lift but they do have the potential to help make the skin look younger because of the ingredients used.

For example retinol has been proven to stimulate the skin to renew cells faster and alpha hydroxy acids can be used as a peel to remove the upper layer of dead skin exposing a fresher layer. There are many creams which help plump up the skin by adding moisture to make it look fresher and younger.

The simplest treatment of all is to use cosmetics to hide skin flaws like fine wrinkles and to choose a foundation that will give the face a fresh and younger look. There are many foundations on the market that will help reduce and eliminate those fine lines and proper application of cosmetics can take years off the age of the face.

The process of turning back time and creating the appearance of younger, youthful looking skin has long been sought after, creating a multi billion dollar industry that provides plenty of options to those that feel they need it.br

How Effective Are The Implants?

20 Dec

Author: Annie williamsbr
Source: articledashboard.combr
br
Contraceptive implants are quite attractive and effective method for women. They consist of six small capsules that are inserted under the skin of a womans upper arm. It acts fast, as it starts working within 24 hours of insertion.

bHow does it Work?/b
These capsules, once implanted, release a steady stream of a female-type hormone (progestin) into the bloodstream. This hormone causes some minor anti-conception changes in your womb lining and in your cervix. Then, it reaches the ovaries and eventually prevents them from releasing eggs. Primarily, it prevents cervical mucus, which eventually prevents sperm penetration as well as inhibits evolution. Its effectiveness is beyond any doubt, as it minimizes the chances of pregnancy to almost 0%. What is more, it can provide protection for up to 5 years. It ensures safety and most women can use implants throughout their reproductive years.

bHow is it put in?/b
There are specially trained doctors and nurse for this purpose, who first inject a little local anaesthetic into your skin and then pushes the tiny rod in, using a special needle. You do not feel much pain because of the local anaesthetic. It normally takes not more than two minutes. Therefore, you can even go home immediately afterwards. Sometimes, you may face a little bruising or soreness after the implant has been inserted, but it is a normal thing, which gets ok after an hour or so, if not in minutes.

bEffectiveness/b
As per numerous medical researches and reports, with perfect and typical use, it ensures 0.1% to 1.0% failure rate for soft capsule implants during the first year of use, and 1.6% failure rate, if you use the same for over five years. It means less than one woman out of hundred may become pregnant within the first year while less than two over the five years of use. What is more, women can have it removed anytime, and immediately upon the rod removal, they can return to fertility. However, if they want to continue even after five years, they must get the implant replaced.

bSide Effects/b
Though it has been a quite effective method, but sometimes some women may face a few side effects. It may include mood changes, acne, headache, breast tenderness, and nausea. Sometimes, it may also cause irregular periods, headaches and weight gain. What is more, sometimes, women may have to face complications with rod removal. However, the chances of occurring such things are extremely low. Again, even if you face some side effects, the good thing with contraceptive implant is that you can get it removed anytime as per your desire and comfort. Once you have the implant taken out, all the side effects will stop almost immediately.

bRestrictions/b
There are literally no restrictions on its use, but it does have certain age restrictions. The age limitation is 16 and above. Women under 16 should not try this contraceptive implants. Also, it mainly works to prevent pregnancy only, and does not effectively protect against STIs and HIV.

Once the capsule is implanted, you can make love whenever you want to, without worrying about taking pills or buying condoms.

Stopping the Aging of the Skin

19 Dec

Author: Anonymousbr
Source: free-articlesbr
br
January 16 2004–Since prevention is so much more effective than correction of a problem, it is key to know three facts in skin health. First, sun is bad for the skin, causing dryness and scaling and ultimately skin cancer. Second, chronic inflammation (like acne, eczema, contact allergies) is bad for the skin. Inflammation can cause the breakdown of collagen, create pigmentary irregularities (splotchyness), and cause scarring. Third, smoking will lead to premature aging; that is a fact.

Different age groups have different concerns:

Twenty somethings:

Most of the sun exposure in our lives is before the age of 20, however, the sooner you stop sun damage, the better, and this is the time to break habits of sun tanning.

Secondly, get in the habit of wearing sun blocks, with SPF 30 or more. I prefer the Neutrogena line, due to the large selection.

Third, all acne and inflammation on the face should be treated, because this leads to chronic inflammation and scarring.

Fourth, diet is key in healthy skin, and one should get in the habit of consuming a balanced diet. Diets rich in antioxidants protect the skin from free radicals that might be induced by sun exposure or chronic inflammation.

Fifth, monitor your moles. You can still get new moles in your early twenties, but if they change or darken, seek a dermatologist.

Sixth, men with a family history of hair loss might start showing the signs of male pattern hair loss. Stopping the cause of shedding and addressing the male pattern alopecia is best done at this stage.

Thirty somethings:

At this point, sun blocks are key.

Second, you need to maintain a diet more rich in anti-oxidants, including Vitamin C, E, Selenium, Omega-3 fatty acids, beta carotene.

Third, start seeing a dermatologist for a complete skin screening.

Fourth, if your acne is worst in the 30s than when you were in your 20s, then I find many such women actually have contact allergies, which only get worst with time, and not better. See your dermatologist.

Fifth, give yourself regular self exams. Monitor all your moles, and look for any changes. At this point in life, you should not be getting any new moles, and if you do, show it to a dermatologist.

Sixth, this is when our metabolism starts to change and fatty deposits start to show themselves. In men, the flanks (love handles), abdomen, and chin accumulate fatty deposits. In women, the thighs, legs, abdomen, arms and face accumulate fatty deposits. The newest technique in liposuction known as micro-cannular tumescent liposuction is a safe, effective, inexpensive procedure with minimal down time.

Forty somethings:

Now is when you should be getting regular skin screenings.

Second, you should be continuing your self skin exams. If a sore is not healing or a new black mole appears, you must seek a dermatologist.

Third, skin imperfections, like benign keratoses and sun spots (solar lentigos) start forming. It is a good cosmetic measure to have your physician remove them.

Your metabolism can change and persistent fatty deposits can form in the jowels, abdomen, hips. It is very reasonable and safe to have liposuction. At the same time, fat from certain parts of the mid face can diminish. With microlipoinjection and collagen, one can easily recreate the contour of the face, and prevent the shrinking of the mid face.

Fifth, at this point, hair loss can become noticeable. Seek the help of a dermatologist in preventing progression and considering hair transplantation.

Sixth, with more worries and work at this stage of life, lines on the mid eyebrows increase due to over activity of frown-muscles, giving a tired look. With the advent of Botox, one can safely remove these lines, and with touch-ups, prevent the deepening of these lines.

Fifty somethings and plus:

This is the best time in our lives. Mentally we are mature, and no more burning the candle at both ends. However, we need to take care of our bodies.

You should know your skin at this point and take good care of it. Self esteem comes both from inside and outside. The beauty of this age is we have mastered the internal component, and with the help of a dermatologist/cosmetic surgeon, you can maintain the outside. You deserve the best.

5 Reasons Little White Bumps Are On Your Face and How to Get Rid Of Them

12 Dec

Author: Naweko San-Joyzbr
Source: articleage.combr
br
Are you making these mistakes each time you spot a little white little bump on your face? Fixing those little white bumps starts with a small dose of education and ends with a big dose of prevention. After understanding the five reasons below, your little bumps should give way to clearer skin.
Reason #1: You have no clue what those little white bumps are anyway.
Little white bumps, or milia, are keratin-filled cysts, or simply little globs of protein under the skin. There are generally two types of milia. Primary milia may result from oil glands that have not fully or properly developed. Secondary milia result from trauma to the skin.
Reason #2: You think all little white bumps are acne, and treat them that way.
Just because you have little white bumps on your face does not necessarily mean that you have acne. Milia, are little balls of protein beneath the skin that do not have a pore, or hole in the skin through which to escape.
Comedones or whiteheads are excess fats and wastes that are trapped in a hair follicle and so they clog up the pore. In short, milia are proteins trapped within the skin, while comedones are fats and skin debris trapped within the pore.
Exfoliating the skin, or removing the dead skin cells from your skin with an abrasive product or chemical, is beneficial. But brutally scrubbing your face with soaps and chemicals too frequently may actually create milia. To avoid this, remember that gentle exfoliation helps prevent excess dead skin cell build-up that could clog your pores and cause whiteheads, not milia.
This gentle exfoliation helps make eventual removal of the milia easier because the skin layer around the milia becomes thinner, with frequent, yet gentle exfoliation. In short, Exfoliate your skin to prevent milia, not to cure them.
Reason # 3 You have no idea what causes those little white bumps anyway.
When you were a baby, you were probably covered with milia that disappear after a few days. Or, you may have inherited milia from your parents.
On the other hand, you may develop milia after excessive exposure to the sun. The reasons for developing milia after sun exposure are debatable. According to some studies, the active ingredients sunscreens like Parsol 1789 may cause sun allergies and later lead to a milia breakout. Other studies blame the sun itself for damaging the skin can thus causing little white bumps.
Some people experience milia around the mouth. This could be the result of fluoride irritation from toothpaste.
Reason # 4: No one ever told you how to prevent milia.
The best way to prevent milia is to avoid treating your skin with excessively harsh chemicals and to limit sun exposure.
To reduce creating milia around the eyes, use eye creams with the least amount of ingredients possible to avoid irritating the delicately thin eye area. Also, gently touch the eyes and avoid rubbing the eyes vigorously so as not to damage the skin.
When brushing you teeth, try to keep the pasty foam from staying around your mouth too long. This limits possible fluoride irritation to the skin.
Use a sunscreen with the least amount of ingredients. Extraneous ingredients like fragrances may irritate your skin. Additionally, purchase sunscreens that offer physical sun blockage that contain active ingredients like titanium oxide or zinc oxide.
Reason #5: You still want to know what you can do right now to get rid of milia.
The key to getting rid of milia is realizing that they have no escape route, those little bumps are trapped under the skin. So, to get them out, youll need to have a professional like a dermatologist or aesthetician extract them. You can extract the milia yourself, but this involves risks.
Precautions
You need to ensure that you milia are not symptoms of some underlying disease or illness. Also, if you extract the milia yourself, you may have trouble completely pulling out the cysts, as the removable process may prove too painful.
Otherwise, if you are confident with your health and courage, you can cleanse your hands and face. Then wet a cloth with warm water and apply it to your face for a few minutes. Gently apply a sterile needle to the center of the little white bump to create a tiny opening in the skin.
Wrap your thumbs in a clean tissue and, using your thumbs, proceed to gently squeeze the contents of the little white bump out. Finally, cleanse the area of the extracted little white bump with an astringent.
Now, you have no reason to walk around with little white bumps on your face. If you still think you do, please consider the possibility that youre just telling yourself little white bumpy lies.

Its certainly a nightmare to wake up a day before a big event just to discover that a visible, red pimple for everyone to see on your face. However, with a little effort you can get rid of it safely in no time! Heres how:

1. Do no squeeze, pick or pinch at a pimple. This just makes it worse and it becomes inflamed and red. Apart from that, it will start to spread the bacteria that caused the condition in the first place, to the other areas. It can also cause scars.

2. Every half an hour or so, try applying ice to the pimple and hold on it for about 2 – 3 minutes. This will bring down any redness and the swelling. It also helps tone down the inflammation and reduces the pain that comes along.

3. If youre in a hurry, try a quick fix solution such as a flesh tinted concealer to mask the pimple. A light dose of it would do the trick and will also help in covering up the oily shine.

4. Use a mild soap (unscented) to cleanse your skin 2 to 3 times a day or you can also use a specialized acne-cleaning agent that doesnt contain any harsh, harmful chemicals such as lye. When scrubbing your skin, do it gently with a washcloth or an exfoliating pad. Avoid rubbing too hard; as itll take away the natural oils from your skin that generally help in repelling a natural buildup.

5. Apply an ointment or a cream that contains salicylic acid or benzyl peroxide (a high number of over the counter acne medicines have these ingredients) around the face or to the blemish. If you have a sensitive skin, its advised that you dont use it as these ingredients tend to dry out your skin if used a lot.

6. Go for makeup thats oil-free, as these types tend to be safe and dont cause any pore buildup, which can result in blemishes. When going to sleep, make sure you remove your make up and effectively cleanse with an acne medicine in order to remove any kind of dirt, makeup and oil from the skin.

7. If you are in a hurry and want an instant solution, take a bit of toothpaste and apply on the area thats affected before you hit the sack, as it helps in soothing the irritation and also reduces the redness. Also, pressing on a cotton ball with some lemon juice or a wet tea-bag to the blemish for a few minutes can also bring down the swelling to a high extent.

If you follow the above given tips, chances are high that youll see a noticeable change or a difference in no time. If pimples become a constant, recurring problem or get worse, see your doctor or take an appointment with a dermatologist. By consulting a medicine professional you come to know what kind of a daily skin cleansing ritual you need to follow according to your skin type. There are other long-term remedies as well, which include diet adjustments, face masks and drinking large amounts of water.
